According to projections released by Airlines for America, US carriers are expected to face record traffic this summer as the US economy recovers. The group has projected a 4.5 percent year-over-year (YoY) increase in traffic for the period June-August 2015. Airlines for America said in its report that it expects 2.4 million passengers to fly between June and August, with a total of 222 million passengers travelling via air. The expected traffic this summer is likely to mark a record high in the industry's history. READ MORE

Twelve towers, 10,000 rooms and 70 restaurants, plus helipads and a full-size convention center: That's the plan for Abraj Kudai, a complex in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, that's set to become the world's largest hotel by room count when it opens in 2017. The $3.5 billion site is currently under construction and will stretch across 1.4 million square meters. A ring of 12 towers will rise from a podium just over 2 kilometers from the Masjid al-Ḥaram, Mecca's holy mosque, according to Dar Al-Handasah's website. READ MORE

Itching to see another country? Well, it turns out you're not alone. According to the Future Traveler Tribes 2030 report by Amadeus, the number of annual international travelers is expected to reach a whopping 1.8 billion by the year 2030. The figure is anticipated to reflect the world's rising population as well as expanding markets like China. Citing a report from L2, Joe McCarthy of Luxury Daily points out that travel industry sales are expected to reach $671 billion by 2018. What's more, mobile booking sales are expected to increase 800 percent during that time. READ MORE
